Fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Robotic Surgery in Gynecologic Benign and Malignant Pathologies

Under the directorship of Dr. Farr Nezhat, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the NYU Grossman Long Island School of Medicine is offering a 2-year minimally invasive gynecologic surgery fellowship program. Applications are currently being accepted for the next even-numbered program year (beginning August 2026).
Dr. Farr Nezhat is a board-certified gynecologic oncologist who is a pioneer and leading authority in the minimally invasive surgical treatment of malignant and benign pelvic gynecologic pathologies. His expertise lies in treating ovarian, uterine, and cervical cancers, as well as severe and multi-organ endometriosis, pelvic masses, ovarian cysts, and uterine fibroids.
The Fellow will work side-by-side with a multidisciplinary team of providers and will rotate at NYU Langone Hospital-Long Island and New York Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center and Lower Manhattan Hospital. Several other faculty members, including urogynecologists, general, and colorectal surgeons will work closely with the fellow.
The comprehensive program will offer:
- Core training in gynecologic minimally invasive surgery, including advanced laparoscopic, robotic, hysteroscopic, abdominal, and vaginal surgery for complex, benign, and malignant conditions
- Training in risk management such as minimizing adverse events and managing laparoscopic, robotic, and hysteroscopic complications
- Participation in clinical research
- Development of teaching and leadership skills
- Training in fiscal accountability
NYU Langone Hospital-Long Island is the clinical campus for the NYU Grossman Long Island School of Medicine (NYU GLISOM). The hospital is a tertiary (Level III) care center with approximately 5000 deliveries and over 3500 surgical gynecological procedures annually. The NYU Grossman Long Island School of Medicine has its own independent, fully-accredited Ob/Gyn Residency program (6 residents per PGY level), an ACGME-accredited Maternal-Fetal Medicine fellowship program, and the country’s first Ob/Gyn Hospitalist fellowship program.
In addition to the Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery Division, the department has the following divisions: Maternal-Fetal Medicine, General Ob/Gyn, Gynecology Oncology, Urogynecology, and Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility.
Applicants for the fellowship must be graduates of a 4-year accredited Ob/Gyn residency program and hold a valid medical license, or otherwise be legally authorized to practice medicine in the state of New York.
