As surgical technologies advance, simulation science has become a fundamental building block for lifelong training and assessment—starting in residency, but not stopping there. While there is no shortage of data-driven, valid curricula in surgical education and training, it’s a challenge to keep up with quickly evolving techniques and effectively applying them more broadly. This forum will explore important considerations for implementing modern simulation training in surgery with a goal to formulate principles and standards that will maximize its value and, ultimately, improve surgeon performance.
