JSLS Resident/Fellow
Review Committee Mentorship Program
In a new and unique initiative, SLS offers the mentoring of surgical residents and fellows in high-quality medical peer-review. The Resident and Fellow Review Committee involves members of the JSLS Editorial Board who team up with surgical residents and fellows interested in scientific writing and peer-review, to evaluate actual scientific manuscripts that are submitted to JSLS.
JSLS, Journal of the Society of Laparoscopic & Robotic Surgeons, is the multispecialty, peer-reviewed journal of the Society of Laparoscopic & Robotic Surgeons (SLS). A leading publication for minimally invasive therapies, JSLS is distributed in more than 63 countries with a readership exceeding 20,000, including SLS members, libraries, and residency programs. JSLS continues to expand and has consistently placed in the top 1% of 16,000 scientific publications on PubMed Central for full-text downloads.
Junior reviewers gain hands-on experience in evaluating a scientific manuscript through all steps of the review process and learn side-by-side with faculty members. Evaluation of all parties – residents, fellows, and senior mentors – along with evaluation of the scientific material, provide a unique forum for instruction of junior colleagues unavailable in almost any other venue.
